Tighten bolts carefully not too tight it will crack but the toilet should not move when you attempt to rock it back and forth you might need shims if the floor is uneven.
The best way to determine a leak due to a faulty valve is to pour some food coloring into your toilet tank to see if the water in the bowl turns the same color.
It may also need more than one wax ring or one of the extra thick ones.
